Leverage our auto-upgrade engine for age-based membership programs

Updated over a week ago

You can enable your membership tier to be for members between certain ages so that when they pass that age, they will automatically migrate to the next age tier.

When setting up a Membership Program, you can set the minimum age and maximum age. This age limit is used to move people into the next tier as soon as they turn a certain age.

For example, you can set the minimum age to 21 and the maximum age to 40 for an Under 40 Group, while setting the minimum age to 41 for an Over 40 Group. In this case the system will automatically upgrade them to the Over 41 tier on their birthday.

When this happens, we will:

  • Automatically migrate them to the next age group they meet

  • Update the billing to reflect the new tier's pricing

  • Send communication to members or staff when this occurs

  • Send webhooks to an external system when this occurs

To set up a notification to send to the member as soon as they're migrated to a new plan (due to age), select the option "Member is Older" when configuring.

When setting up a webhook or campaign activity, search for age and select "Membership Age".

These triggers will fire when the member is updated to the new membership tier.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Make sure you set up the next tier for someone to upgrade to. For example, if you set 21 to 40 for one program, make sure you have a program setup for 40 to 65 and 65 to 100 to ensure members get upgraded.

  • We will only change the billing amount to match the same frequency they are paying (e.g. monthly vs. annual). If one doesn't exist, we'll default to annual, then monthly.

  • We will not charge any difference in initiation fees.
